There are three main types of laser marking machines on the market, namely fiber laser marking machines, Co2 laser marking machines and ultraviolet laser marking machines. Among them, the price of ultraviolet laser marking machines is relatively high, and the number of people who buy them is relatively small. They are more suitable for high-end customers who require fine marking effects. Most customers will choose between fiber laser marking machines and Co2 laser marking machines. Should I choose a fiber laser marking machine or a Co2 laser marking machine?
The first difference: the applicable materials are different. Fiber laser marking machines mainly mark metals, while Co2 laser marking machines mainly mark non-metals.
Fiber laser marking machines can mark metals and some specific non-metal materials, but most non-metal materials are not suitable for fiber laser marking machines, including common ceramics, wood, leather, cotton and linen fabrics, etc. CO2 laser marking machines are the opposite. Most non-metal materials can be marked, but the marking of metal materials is not ideal, and it is not recommended to mark metal materials.
The second difference: the lasers used are different. The laser wavelength of optical fiber is 1064nm, and the laser wavelength of carbon dioxide is 10.64μm.
Carbon dioxide laser marking machines use CO2 lasers, while fiber laser marking machines use fiber lasers. The laser wavelength of carbon dioxide is 10.64μm, and the laser wavelength of optical fiber is 1064nm. Fiber lasers rely on optical fibers to transmit lasers, while CO2 lasers rely on external optical path systems to transmit lasers. Therefore, before each device is used, CO2 lasers must adjust the optical path, while fiber lasers do not need to be adjusted.
The third difference: At the same power, the price of Co2 laser marking machines is higher.
The maximum service life of a fiber laser marking machine can reach 100,000 hours, while the maximum service life of a carbon dioxide laser marking machine is 30,000 hours. In addition, when the laser power is the same, the price of a CO2 laser marking machine is more expensive.
